Werneth is something of an education station – put it this way, local families aren't short of seats of learning. There are seven schools nearby including the prestigious Oldham Hulme Grammar Schools, rated by the Sunday Times as amongst the top independent secondary schools in the UK.

The popular University Centre Oldham, Oldham Sixth Form College, the Oldham College and Lifelong Learning Centre are also very easy to get to.

Later this year, a £5.5 million regional science centre will open in Oldham town centre. The first of its kind in the country, the five-storey centre will boast 21 labs and exhibition and experiment space to inspire young scientists from primary school to university age.
